The architectural concept is inspired by the profile of the steep rocky site, by drawing a visual flow that binds old stones and arches by the dynamic force of concrete geometric volumes. The guiding lines extend through the space towards the V shaped profile of the valley, and beyond that to the infinite horizon of the sea.
The V form is the harmony key of the architectural composition. It sets the relationship between volumes of static nature (the recycled 200 year old stones), and volumes of dynamic nature (the cantilevering forms of white fair-faced concrete). By opposing the characters of building materials, the architecture reflects the spirit of two periods: The old patrimonial one, and the contemporary one. Both are integrated in harmony, giving a sense of continuity throughout ages by solving the paradox of the contrasts, extending further its scope to blend volumes and spaces within nature.
